He started out as part-time staff in Calgary, moved into a regional full-time role and recently was appointed National Director of Skatelife. He’s a husband and father, married for 15 years with 2 boys, Dane and Elias. Jason loves skateboarding and skateboarders, but when he’s not on his board he’s at the river fishing.

Jordan Smail
Divisional Director, Canada East

Jordan Smail is the divisional Director of Eastern Canada. He currently lives downtown Toronto with his lovely wife Cassie and little dog Ollie. When not skateboarding Jordan is learning to play piano, tinkering with small engines, attempting to build furniture, and reading terribly boring books on anthropology, biology, and the cosmos with some fiction peppered in.

Mathew Janz
- Skatebats & Communications

Matt Janz grew up skateboarding in south Calgary and has been volunteering for Skatelife for 8 years. His new role with Skatelife will be to plan new communications and community engagement projects, and to oversee the ground breaking new Skate Bats program. Matt’s own experience with vision loss coupled with his passion for skateboarding makes him uniquely qualified to teach visually impaired kids how to skateboard. With their first kid on the way, Matt and his wife Amy work together to bring life into Calgary’s skateboarding community.
